Yes, what you are reading is correct, we want to winter in Nepal.
In cooperation with Travellers Jungle Camp and Himalayan Glacier Trekking in
Kathmandu we have researched whether there is enough interest of people
with a lot of spare time to winter in Nepal, or not (we are talking about
the period between the 1st of December and mid February). For birdwatchers
this period is also the best; the bird watching is done with the best
Nepalese guides.
In Sauraha, a small village next to the Royal Chitwan National Park
is a simple cottage with a bedroom and a shower with terrace. The costs to
sleep there is about 70 Euros a week and 3 meals a day are included.
Excursions, tips and drinks are not included. The temperature in the above
mentioned period is over 20 degrees Celsius during the day, but the nights
are cool (more information: visit the website
www.nepaljunglecamp.com) or
e-mail contact person Jan
Laan.
Hiking, jungle excursions, a jeep safari, a trip on elephants or a
flight: everything is possible. People of Himalayan Glacier Trekking will
pick you up at Kathmandu Airport and they will drop you at a hotel in
Kathmandu. From there you will go by bus (or plane) to Sauraha in Chitwan.
When you want to visit Nepal you need a valid passport, which has to be
valid one half year after you returned home. You can apply for a visa at
the consulate. For information about the shots you need you can go to your
doctor or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. More information: send an
e-mail Jan Laan. Pictures: see
below.
